Elk City's Crown Jewel of Parks

Elk City's foremost park and recreation area, Ackley Park has been home to the Oklahoma Travelers since the summer of 2002 when the team moved from Woodward to Elk City. The park and adjacent stadium sit on the west side of town on historic Route 66.

The baseball park is just one piece of a larger 60-acre recreational area for locals, tourists and groups to spend an afternoon picnicing or taking in any number of activities the park provides. Across the street west of the park is the National Route 66 museum and Old Town Complex where young and old can learn the history of "The Mother Road."

Ackley Park Baseball Stadium
The baseball stadium is one of a kind with its thick eight-foot rock wall surrounding the entire complex. It also boasts one of the largest outfields in the nation.

Homerun hitters and outfielders alike will be humbled by the vast spaces beyond the infield. The foul poles are 335-feet from home plate with 360-foot power alleys and a majestic 444-foot expanse to dead center. The stadium seats approximately 1,500 in the covered grandstands. There is also generous room down both lines for kids to run about, fans to sit in lawn chairs or you can even have a picnic while watching baseball. The stadium also has a netted batting cage with a concrete floor, double-wide bullpens near each dugout and a fully loaded concession stand.

Ackley Park Recreation Area
A day at Ackley Park isn't confined to just baseball. Bring your fishing pole and try your luck at the lake across from the stadium or just spend time feeding the ducks and geese that call Ackley Park home. You can also catch a ride on the miniature train that goes around the lake or play 18 holes at the miniature golf course.

The park area also has large picnic pavilions, an aquatic center for swimming in the summer as well as two tennis courts, a sand volleyball court, a rodeo arena and vast open spaces for any number of activities. Another of the park's main attractions is The Centennial Carousel, a stunning masterpiece of thirty-six hand carved wooden horses presented by today’s Elk Citians for the enjoyment of generations to come. Take the young kids over for a ride!

National Route 66 Museum & Old Town Complex
Just across the street from Ackley Park is the official home of an American landmark. The National Route 66 museum focuses on the people who lived, worked and traveled "The Mother Road" when Route 66 was a main artery for cross-country travelers. The Old Town Museum complex documents the heritage of Elk City and the rural agricultural roots of Western Oklahoma.
